In the first week of unit 3, I plan to do more research about art toys and prepare for the Dragons Den session, a presentation of our project to professional people outside school.
For the tutorial, I received many feedback from the tutor …
- Ask more perspectives from artists
- Research historical context or ideas about art toys
- Do people try to understand art toys? – The gap in your research about people’s perspective
My tutor recommended that I visit the Museum of Childhood (Young V&A museum) and suggested I talk to a librarian to ask for information.
This week, Richie Manu gave a presentation on ‘Beyond the visual’, which is about discovering how to compress work in 60 seconds. He talked about curiosity and questions that feed your imagination, along with many case studies.
One topic that he discussed was ‘Multimodality’, which describes communication practices in terms of auditory = sound, visual = sight, olfaction = smell, kinesthetic = touch, and gustatory = taste. This topic inspired me to use it for the intervention.
On the weekend, I went to the Museum of Childhood (Young V&A museum). The museum is a very nice design for everyone, especially children, with all the colours and displays. I really enjoyed exploring the museum. Also, I got an idea about sensory to make the activities more fun and make people interested in joining. I think should I let people create their own art toys? Or should people learn more about art toys?
