Unit 3 (11-2)

This weekend, I went to the Tate Modern Museum to set up my second intervention. I sat on a bench in front of the museum’s green area and started to set up the intervention. Here’s what it looks like.

I sat at the Tate Modern Garden near Bankside Beach.

There are many people around this area. Many people came and looked at the art toys, but they thought I was selling them. Then, I have to write a sign saying ‘Free activity for school project’. After I showed this sign, I got 5 participants for my intervention, which is great. Next time, I will improve this sign.

Analysis:

Many participants felt that art toys helped them understand and express their emotions better, suggesting a strong emotional connection. One participant said, “I already know about art toys, but I have never thought about them this way before. It’s good to know the other value of art toys.” These insights show that art toys can be valuable tools for emotional expression and reflection, supporting my project’s aim to explore the emotional benefits of engaging with art toys.

I had a conversation with one participant that inspired me a lot. The participant said, “The first art toy represents my boring mood, but the second one makes me happy because it feels alone. Because when I am alone, sometimes I feel happy.” This conversation made me realise that you don’t need to always have a positive emotion. Like this participant, sometimes you just want to be alone, and then you will feel happier.

I think this intervention is really helping to prove my project question and my initial idea of this project. However, I think I need more participants for this intervention to gain more opinions and feedback.

I plan to do this intervention again next week. Let’s see what I will get!
