This week, I feel so happy and relieved because the tutorial was very helpful and opened my mind to what I always know but don’t recognise.
I started the tutorial by discussing the feedback I received and the analysis that I had prepared. And here is the feedback from my tutor…
- We started thinking about the new word for my project question. Because the word art is too vague, people define this word differently. So, I need to avoid this word by thinking about new words with the same meaning. Not only the word art but also other words that will build my new question as well.
- Here is the word list that I thought.
- Story behind
- Works
- Effort
- Story/Narrative/Dialogue
- Awareness – inform the audience of the narrative of the creative works
- Consumer
- Collectible
- I would like to highlight some words from those words because I think they will suit my project question.
- Awareness
- Works
- Consumer
- Creative works
- Here is the word list that I thought.
- The tutor inspired me to create my own art toys, which is the same idea that I had.
- Another important suggestion was to reconsider the materials used in my project, particularly in relation to art toys, since the use of plastic might not align with wellness-focused projects. This feedback led me to explore recycled plastic as a material, aligning my project with sustainability efforts.
When it comes to creating my art toys, I am so excited about this idea because it would be good to do something that will help me continue my work and update my artwork on Instagram to connect with the audience. I think this idea will also help me gain more audience.
Maybe in the future, I could make money from these art toys. Haha
This new direction allowed me to shift the emphasis from artistic expression to consumer awareness. I wanted to investigate whether consumers could be made more aware of the creative effort and narrative behind products, thereby fostering a deeper appreciation of the work that goes into creating them. I chose to compare two creative outputs:
- A custom-designed object (formerly referred to as an art toy),
- A digital illustration, which is more aligned with my existing creative work on my Instagram account (Song.Soong.Sooong).
