Unit 4

Unit 4 (7-1)

I started the week with the tutorial, and we did the S.W.O.T. analysis on our project. The S.W.O.T. helped me address the things that would make my project fail, things that challenge me or even the limitations of the project. Here is the image of the s.w.o.t analysis of the project that I did in the tutorial.

  1. Strengths
    • Strong research question: I have a clear question about what I am trying to do, my focus group, and what I will use to do this project.
    • Encouraging people: I aim to encourage the customers to appreciate the process of doing creative work.
  2. Weaknesses
    • Lack of knowledge: I lacked knowledge about customer behaviour and how to engage with people on social media, which is the key to the project.
    • Limitation: My project focuses on Thai consumers, so finding Thai people to do the intervention is limited. Another limitation is that not all people learn or know the art process, so they might not care or want to change their perception.
  3. Opportunities
    • Engagement: This is an opportunity for me to learn and understand social media, which is the main platform for my illustration. I will learn to engage more followers and learn more about customer behaviour.
    • Materials: My opportunity to work in recycled materials and work with a recycled factory or company in the future.
  4. Threats
    • No change
      • People still lean toward the trend.
      • People don’t care about the process.
      • Craft is expensive; people don’t like it because factory-made is cheaper and more neat.

To improve my weaknesses, I compared online platforms Instagram and TikTok to learn how to work on them and gain more knowledge about customer behaviour, as the expert suggested to me last week.

On November 4, 2024, I created the TikTok account where I will post the creative process of this intervention. https://www.tiktok.com/@song.soong.sooong?_t=8rJs5Uizz3Q&_r=1

I went to Pop Mart again on November 4 and 9, 2024, and there were no Thai people there. I think on-site intervention has less engagement and doesn’t work, so I have less production.

Regarding the limitation of the location, since there are fewer Thai people at the Pop Mart shop, it seems like I need to focus more on online interactions with Thai customers by analysing analytic information than on-site.
